United Healthcare Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center

Addiction is a life-threatening disease, and without treatment, it tends to get worse progressively. Treatment programs, whether inpatient or outpatient, are needed to overcome addiction to drugs or alcohol. For a lot of people, the biggest thing holding them back from seeking treatment is a worry about how much it costs. In many instances, insurance will cover the costs.

Specifically, does United Healthcare cover drug rehab? In short, yes, depending on your plan, location, and where you plan to go to rehab. Cedar Oaks Wellness Center is a United Healthcare drug rehab, meaning we’re in-network with this insurer. Reach out to learn more about our inpatient drug rehab in Ohio.

How Much Does Rehab Cost?

There are so many individual factors that go into the costs of rehab. Things that influence the cost of addiction treatment include:

  • If you have insurance coverage.
  • Your insurance plan.
  • Your medical needs.
  • The level of care—for example, is it inpatient or outpatient?
  • The length of treatment.
  • The location of the treatment center.

Most rehab facilities, including Cedar Oaks Wellness Center, have flexible payment options. As well as being in-network with major insurance companies, these can include payment plans and financing solutions.

What to Know About United Healthcare

United Healthcare is also known as the UnitedHealth Group or UHC. It’s made up of two companies—UnitedHealthcare and Optum. Between these two companies, healthcare plans are available in every state and worldwide. United Healthcare provides coverage for tens of millions of Americans, while Optum integrates technology health services.

The specific plans that are available through UHC depend on the state and the tier of coverage that you choose as a policyholder but generally fall into one of three categories:

  • UnitedHealthcare Choice is a plan with in-network coverage with nearly 900,000 providers nationwide. If you go out-of-network, however, there is no coverage.
  • UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus includes cost savings if you stay in-network, and while there may be some coverage for an out-of-network provider, it will be less.
  • UnitedHealthcare Options PPO includes savings on out-of-pocket costs if you get treatment with a member of the preferred provider network.

In-Network vs. Out-of-Network Providers

Cedar Oaks Wellness Center is in-network with UnitedHealthcare. If you have this coverage, choose a United Healthcare drug rehab because otherwise, your insurance may not cover as much of your treatment, if anything at all.

An in-network provider accepts your insurance and is a participating provider. That means that the facility or provider has worked out a contracted agreement with United Healthcare to deliver care at certain prices. This helps minimize costs for policyholders.

When providers join a network, they agree to accept the insurer-approved amount for their services.

If you go out-of-network, you’re responsible for paying the difference in whatever the approved amount is for your plan versus the full charge of the treatment center.

As a United Healthcare insurance drug rehab, we can help verify your coverage through the company and explain your benefits for addiction treatment and out-of-pocket costs.

Does United Healthcare Cover Drug Rehab?

Does United Healthcare cover drug rehab? In short, yes, but with some limitations.

Many plans from United Healthcare cover drug and alcohol addiction treatment services, but how much you pay out-of-pocket can vary depending on your policy and state of residence.

Most insurers will cover, to some extent, rehab and substance abuse treatment programs, and they may be required to. For example, U.S. parity laws require insurers to provide coverage for behavioral health (including rehab) similar to that for physical health conditions.

Plans purchased on the Marketplace must include rehab and addiction treatment services as essential covered benefits.

If you aren’t sure what your insurance plan will cover or want to learn more about the next steps, contact Cedar Oaks Wellness Center. We are a leading Ohio rehab facility offering evidence-based inpatient and outpatient programs.

What Types of Treatment Will United Healthcare Cover?

Along with answering the broad question of “does United Healthcare cover drug rehab,” you might be wondering specifically what could be covered.

First, if your insurance covers rehab costs, it usually includes any addiction. Addictions that you might use your insurance to receive treatment for include:

  • Alcohol
  • Heroin
  • Prescription opioids
  • Prescription stimulants
  • Marijuana
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Prescription sleep medications
  • Methamphetamine

There are different levels of care that you might participate in as you’re going through your treatment process. You follow a continuum of care if you go through multiple care levels.

Research shows that a continuum of care approach best supports long-term recovery and helps you gradually transition into your new daily life.

Some of the levels of care available at Cedar Oaks Wellness Center that United Healthcare may cover include:

  • Detoxification: During a medical detox, you’re going through a critical first step in your recovery in a supportive, safe environment with clinical care. As you withdraw from drugs or alcohol, the medical team at our drug detox center in Ohio will provide treatments and medications to improve your comfort and safety.
  • Inpatient rehab: A residential program is inpatient, meaning you live onsite during your treatment for a period of time. Inpatient programs are a good starting point for most people struggling with addiction because the environment is secure, stable, and focused. You’re away from triggers or things that could derail your recovery in the earliest days of your treatment process.
  • Partial hospitalization: Also known as a PHP or day program, during partial hospitalization, you have access to the full-day programming of inpatient rehab, but you return home at night and on the weekends.
  • Medication-assisted treatment: MAT includes using FDA-approved medicines to help your recovery. These medicines aren’t cures for addiction but are used with behavioral treatments and mental health care.
  • Dual diagnosis: When someone’s struggling with addiction, there’s a high likelihood they also have a mental health disorder, known as co-occurring disorders. Treating both at the same time is important for your recovery.

All the above care levels are offered at Cedar Oaks Wellness Center. We are a Cincinnati rehab center with inpatient and outpatient programs.

If you don’t have insurance, or it won’t cover your rehab costs fully or partially, we can still help. Our team can work with you on flexible payment options to suit your needs to get the treatment you need and deserve.
