Michelle brings a unique blend of healthcare experience and behavioral health expertise to her work with clients. Starting her career as a nurse and earning an associate degree in business management, Michelle discovered her passion for advocacy and mental health, which led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in social work and Substance Use Counseling with a minor in Public Health from the University of Cincinnati. She is currently completing her Master of Social Work at The Ohio State University, expected in August 2026.
Michelle has extensive experience in public health and behavioral health policy through five terms as a Public Health Advisor with SAMHSA via the Washington Federal Intern Program. Her work included supporting SAMHSA’s 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and Behavioral Health Crisis Coordinating Office, as well as the Office of Recovery. Beyond her federal service, Michelle has contributed to research and advocacy initiatives such as the EMPOWER Project, the Ohio Center of Excellence QPR Advisory Committee, Ohio Problem Gambling Coalition, Cradle of Cincinnati’s Policy Committee, and the Health Justice Lab at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing.
Michelle is an active member of prevention and advocacy coalitions, including the University of Cincinnati Prevention Coalition and the Southwest Ohio Problem Gambling Coalition. She is deeply committed to reducing stigma around mental health and substance use disorders and addressing healthcare disparities among marginalized populations. Her clinical interests include addiction sciences, trauma, mental health, women’s issues, gambling disorders, and high-risk populations.
Outside of her professional work, Michelle enjoys volunteering, caring for houseplants, spending time with her cats, and making memories with her children and extended family.
