Cedar Oaks Wellness Equine Experiences

Equine Experience

For many people, overcoming alcohol addiction and substance abuse disorders depends on finding the right recovery program that speaks to them.

Time with Horses Can Bring Relaxation & Focus

An Equine Experience
at Cedar Oaks.

Fighting the symptoms of addiction might not be enough to help them achieve lasting sobriety. Instead, they need to feel connected to another activity or action that allows them to vent, ground themselves, and so on.

An equine program is one such activity that many people enjoy because spending time with horses can be naturally calming.

Cedar Oaks Wellness Center in Cincinnati is excited to announce that we are the only addiction recovery facility in the area with an equine program. We have teamed up with Camp Kern – a nearby YMCA facility – to begin offering equine programs and classes. Currently, a weekly 90-minute session is available to patients who would benefit the most from this type of recovery model. If you think integrating time with horses into your recovery process would benefit you, then please reach out to us at (513) 780-5201 or contact us online right away.

How Does an Equine Experience Help?

How Does an Equine Experience

Help?

Animal companionship has long been sought after by people struggling with all sorts of issues related to a mental health difficulty, which is often the case for people with alcohol and drug abuse disorders. Our equine program recognizes and utilizes the benefits of animal companionship by involving our patients in the care of horses. Although many animals can connect with humans on an emotional level, horses are renowned by their owners for truly being able to understand and calm them.

How Equine Activities
Help Your Recovery.

Routine interactions with horses can also help people get stronger senses of impulse control. Working with and spending time with a horse requires one to pay attention to the animal’s behaviors. Impulsivity is an opposition to the behaviors that horses prefer to see from their companions and riders, so a patient will often begin to control their impulsive nature subconsciously.
